If you do it like everybody else it won't work

How to achieve the success you want?

This is a tricky question.

I know it involves a lot of consistent work.

Yet, every path is different.

But one thing I’m sure of is that you shouldn’t copy what is successful if you want to build sustainable success.

Yes, you should go for hot things in the market (or are becoming hot).

Yes, you should take inspiration from the creators you love.

But you should not do it like them or everybody else.

For example, if you want to become Marques Brownlee, you will always play catch up.

Think about it.

If you do things like he does, you will never do something different or fresh.

On the other side, if you take inspiration from others, you’re going to add your personality to it as you publish more.

At first, people can find you weird.

You will be uncomfortable.

It can take time for people to notice your work.

But when you have a collection of published work, you build your way of doing stuff.

You should be passionate about what you publish before others are interested in you as a creator.

It can be lonely. But I think it’s worth it.

I’m doing things my way. Putting my personality in it. And over time, I think more people will get interested in what I say.

Mainly because there will be some originality in it.

At least I’m having fun in the way, getting better at writing, and learning new skills.
